About Pancho Villa

Francisco “Pancho Villa” Guilledo (August 1, 1901 – July 14, 1925) was a Filipino flyweight legend and the first Asian world boxing champion, capturing the World Flyweight title in 1923 with a knockout win over Jimmy Wilde. Known as the “Filipino Whirlwind”, Villa rose from humble beginnings in Negros Occidental to international fame, thrilling crowds with his relentless style. He never suffered a knockout in his career, compiling an unofficial record of 90 wins, 8 losses, and 4 draws. Tragically, he died at just 23 from complications after a dental infection, but his legacy endures—inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1994 and remembered as one of the greatest Filipino fighters of all time.
