Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan in High Risk High Reward Fight in ?The Fast and The Furious?

PhilBoxing.com

Toronto, Canada - Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan fights his second fight in one of the largest and stacked boxing events this year out of Canada on December 14 in ?The Fast and The Furious? Series held by GYM (Groupe Yvone Michel Promotions) at the Montreal Bell Center, the mecca of boxing in Canada.

Marc ?Gwapo? Pagcaliwangan goes into unchartered territory and steps up to take on a more seasoned and experienced undefeated boxer Kyle McNeil from Nova Scotia who has 5 wins. This is a match-up between two boxers who were Provincial Champions in the amateurs that will surely test and push each other to the limit until the better man emerges. McNeil has a lot more experience compared to the young Filipino Canadian who only has 3 rounds of professional boxing under his belt oppose to the 21 rounds that McNeil has fought since he turned pro on September, 2011.

Expect an action packed and high adrenalin showdown between Pagcaliwangan and McNeil who will open up ?The Fast and The Furious? as both young boxers will try to capitalize and prove their worth to the boxing world and make a name for themselves. They will meet at a catch weight of 123lbs and fight over 6 rounds.

What is known about the undefeated Kyle McNeil is that he has fought all his fights in Atlantic Canada thus far. He comes forward and brings on the fight and gets stronger as each round passes. McNeil?s physique and conditioning has been unquestionable in all of his 5 fights, he?s won all of his four round fights in the last rounds and scored his second knockout in his last fight in the fifth round.

As this writer has mentioned before in past articles, A Canadian East Coast fighter is a special breed of boxer due to the rugged and hard lifestyle in the Canadian Atlantic Provinces. Ryan McGrady demonstrated what East Coast Boxers are all about when fought the other Filipino Canadian boxer Junmar Emon which resulted in a blood soaked battle.

In his second training camp, Marc Pagcaliwangan descended weight successfully and is able to fight at 122lbs or 126lbs which is why a catch weight of 123lbs was proposed and agreed upon.

Pagcaliwangan?s dedication to training has transformed him into athlete with world class conditioning. His Coach Socrates Celestial definitely has his work cut out for him and will need to teach everything he?s got under his belt to conquer a more seasoned undefeated journeyman in Kyle McNeil. Coach Socrates has been sparring with the best talents available in the area to insure that Marc Pagcaliwangan encounters the most challenging sparring partners he has ever faced; definitely a career defining moment for the Filipino Canadian Coach and Boxer tandem that have stepped up and took on this ambitious task.

Having recently met with Marc Pagcaliwangan?s manager Mark Erwin from Win Sports Management, this writer asked him why Team Gwapo chose a high risk high reward fight for Marc Pagcaliwangan?s second fight, his response was?..

?Today there seems to be so many critics in the "Boxing World", most turn out to be "self-proclaimed" experts and share their opinions online about someone?s chances or skills inside the squared circle. I find that there are a LIMITED amount of professional journalists who share an opinion in the mainstream media which has now streamlined itself to the Worldwide Web.

Coverage is dissipating on National TV and Larger Newspapers, most avid fans are reading about their preferred sport on one of several "Boxing Web Sites"...I have a few people who I would consider friends who do a very good job covering our beloved sport locally here in Ontario and across the border into Quebec. Having said this, lately I have read comments that have been made, that quite frankly disturb me not only in content or context, but in their viability or worth.

Marc Pagcaliwangan has an amateur background in the OBA (Ontario Boxing Association), someone thought they would be nice enough to tell me that the OBA pales in comparison to Boxing Ontario. What did this tell me? Amateur Boxing is diluted in Ontario? OBA is inferior to Boxing Ontario? For me, young Marc was brought to my attention of a very good friend who understands the fight game and has a good eye for talent. I didn't decide to sign him based on his Amateur affiliation, moreover, he auditioned and I saw raw talent that beckoned to join the professional ranks!

On December 14th Marc "GWAPO" Pagcaliwangan is scheduled in a 6 round contest with 5-0 fighter Kyle McNeil at The Bell Centre in Montreal Quebec. I was asked why would I step Marc up with a 5-0 fighter after only one fight! The answer comes in many different forms...The self-proclaimed writers will argue that many of today's undefeated fighters in Ontario have had "hand-picked" TOMATO CANS as opponents and their records are padded. I've heard time and time again, The East Coast have class B fighters. Who gave anyone the right to tag someone as a BUM?? It's mind boggling and somewhat disrespectful to the sport. I can provide many answers to appease many of the pundits...But I will provide only ONE that matters to my TEAM and I...

I consider Marc to be highly intelligent in the ring, his killer instinct and bravado is undeniable...To me, he is a throwback fighter, someone from back in the day who will punch until his arms can no longer swing, who will be on his toes and dance until his lungs have no more capacity to sustain. Someone who would go out on his shield versus surviving, a fighter that respects the sport enough to take on the challenge that is in front of him. 5 Featherweights exist in Canada today...One has already been dispatched, one is into his career with 11 fights and is a force to be reckon with on the WORLD stage, he of course would have nothing to gain by fighting Marc (makes sense to me) this leaves 2 others and only one of them has had more than one fight. McNeil is a 5-0 fighter, obviously he has an unblemished record...fighting him would bring out the best in Marc and I have full confidence in my fighter that he brings home the W.

Why is he fighting a guy 5-0? Because he can and after all....Just like Marc, isn't Kyle just a man??

Whatever you may want to call it; underdog, dark horse, or long shot, it is the scenario Marc Pagcaliwangan faces against Kyle McNeil. Kyle McNeil has more to lose heading into this fight as he is undefeated with more fights under his belt. What makes this fight intriguing is that Marc Pagcaliwangan steps up and takes this opportunity where other boxers would probably not take on someone with a lot more experience, some may even call it foolish. Marc Pagcaliwangan is in a unique and privileged situation fighting in a pay per view fight card held by GYM and co-promoted by Hennessy Sports Canada early in his career. He has to treat this fight as the most important fight of his young career and put himself in a must win situation to give him the quantum leap into the world stage.

Former WBC and IBO light heavyweight champion and Montreal native Jean Pascal (26W-2L-1D, 16KO) who fought Bernard ?The Executioner? Hopkins in May, 2011 makes his return in the ring against Aleksy Kuziemski (23W-4L-0D, 7KO) from Poland on the same fight card along with the undefeated main event boxer Eleider Alvarez in a WBO NABO light heavyweight title fight.
Also on the card is the NABA super featherweight champion Logan ?Cotton? McGuinness (18W-0L-1D, 9KO) puts up his title against Carlos Manuel Reyes of the Dominican Republic (23W-2L-1D,15KO).
Wealth TV will broadcast the fight via internet video streaming. http://www.wealthtv.com
