About Rolando Navarrete

Rolando “Bad Boy from Dadiangas” Navarrete (born February 14, 1957 in General Santos) is a Filipino former professional boxer who competed from 1973 to 1991. A southpaw slugger known for his knockout power, he captured the WBC super featherweight title in 1981 by stopping Cornelius Boza-Edwards, and defended it once before losing to Rafael Limón in 1982. Navarrete’s career record stands at 74 fights, 56 wins (33 by KO), 15 losses, and 3 draws. Though his reign was brief, he remains ranked among the top super featherweight champions in WBC history. His later years were marked by personal struggles, but he is remembered as one of the Philippines’ notable world champions of the 1980s.
