IBF world junior flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi of Japan and IBF Interim champion Milan Melindo of the Philippines both weighed in at 48.8 kilos (107.6 lbs) just .4 lbs under the junior flyweight weight limit during the official weighin held in Tokyo Saturday afternoon ahead of their world title fight to be held at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo Sunday.
Melindo comes in with a 35-2-0 record with 12 KOs while Yaegashi, a two-time world champion, has a record of 25-5-0 with 13 KOs to his name. This is Melindo?s third shot at a world title since facing Juan Francisco Estrada in a unification fight in 2013 and Javier Mendoza in 2015.
The Melindo-Yaegashi fight will be shown on delayed telecast via ABS-CBN S+A two weeks after Sunday's fight.
