Efren ?Bata? Reyes has quickly recovered from a minor slump and surged to challenge teenager Austin Murphy who came out of nowhere to grab the top spot from longtime leader Vilmos Foldes of Hungary in the International Pool Tour voting by pool enthusiasts to pick the top two players who will face off in the IPT Viewers Choice Ultimate 8-Ball Challenge match on April 29 in the US.
Reyes, with an obvious boost from an appeal for support posted on the extremely popular philboxing.com website of journalist Dong Secuya moved back into second spot with 20.09 percent of the votes cast pushing Foldes into third with 18.04 percent and catching up on Murphy who, in the latest tally, had 20.83 percent of the votes.
Viewers have a chance until midnight April 11 (US Central time) to cast their votes.
Murphy won the Billiards Congress of America junior national championship for players 14 years and under when he was only 11 years old in Ann Arbor, Michigan in June 2005. Three months later, the youngster won the World Championship for players 18 years and under.
The talented youngster who started playing pool at the age of 5 has been quoted as saying ?you need to know about geometry and physics? to be a good pool player.
