Philippine welterweight champion Arniel Tinampay has lost a unanimous twelve round decision to undefeated Vitaly Demyanenko in a battle for the WBC Asian Boxing Council and Pan Asia Boxing Association titles in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The rugged Filipino was rated No. 7 by PABA and had won the vacant Philippine title with a unanimous twelve round decision over Dondon Sultan last November 14. With the loss to Demyanenko, Tinampay?s record dropped to 7-8-1 with 2 knockouts.

The 24 year old Kazakhstan champion is the son of former 1980 Olympic Games silver medallist Victor Demyanenko who fought in the Moscow games.

With the win Demyanenko improved to 14-0 with 10 knockouts and despite his high percentage of knockouts was unable to put the game Tinampay away.

In his last title defense Demyanenko scored an eighth round knockout over Thailand?s Kiatchai Singwancha who had a record of 25-4 with 15 knockouts. The Kazakhstan fighter is ranked No. 13 by the World Boxing Organization and No. 14 by the World Boxing Council.
