The tournament will be staged on January 27, 2026, as part of the Golden Anniversary celebration of the Mapúa FIL-CHI Alumni Association, and will be held during the first week of Mapúa Foundation Day. The event aims to honor the enduring legacy of Filipino excellence in chess, led by the country’s most celebrated chess icon, Grandmaster Eugene Torre.
Present at the meeting were GM Eugene Torre and his wife Marilyn Torre; Engr. Gus Agustin, President of the FIL-CHI Alumni Association; former NAMA Presidents Engr. George Go and Arch. Joseph Cu; former FIL-CHI Presidents Engr. Edmond Aguilar, Engr. Elias Ang, and Engr. Victor Lau; FIL-CHI Secretary Gilbert Hundangan; and Engr. Nelson L. Salazar, former Mapúa Chess Champion.
