Eighteen-year-old Aarón Márquez made his professional boxing debut by knocking out his compatriot Christian García in the first round of a four-round featherweight bout last saturday held at the San Marcos International Fair, an event supported by the Aguascalientes government.

Aarón is the son of Rafael Márquez and the nephew of Juan Manuel Marquez, two former world champions and legends of Mexican boxing and members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota.

The referee gave a standing eight count in the first round, but García was already hurt and unable to continue. Márquez's victory was declared a knockout at 2:29.

This is just the beginning of his career, but it started differently from his father and uncle, who both began their boxing journeys with losses.

His father Rafael Marquez debuted in September 1995 in a defeat against Victor Rabanales who was world champion and his uncle Juan Manuel Marquez debuted in May 1993 losing by disqualification against Javier Duran.
