Manila---Filipino Recarte Tiauson is to compete in the 21st Malaysian Chess Festival, scheduled from August 28 to September 6, 2026 at KL Gateway Mall in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia.

" I would like to thank Talisay Mayor Atty. Rowena 'Weng' Lopez Lizares and Talisay Chess Club President Ely Jimenez for supporting me in this tournament," said the Talisay City, Negros Occidental top player Tiauson.

"I'm hoping to earn some ELO rating points." added Tiauson, who placed third in Blitz and 4th in the Rapid division during the 2025 Asian Amateur Chess Championships in Hongkong.

Tiauson recently finished first place in the Mayor Jose Chubasco Batchuk B. Cardenas Invitational FIDE rated chess tournament held at the Salta New Uptown Market in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental last July 1,2026 and the Tanjay City FIDE-Rated Open Chess Tournament held at the Osmena Park in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental last July 26, 2026.
