Croke Park has witnessed countless moments of Irish sporting folklore, but on Saturday night, it hosted a historic farewell. Before a roaring, sold-out crowd of 83,000 fanatical supporters, 40-year-old icon Katie Taylor delivered a masterclass performance to defeat Flora Pili, unifying all five belts—WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO—to become a three-time undisputed champion before hanging up her gloves forever.

Despite entering the squared circle in her fifth decade, Taylor displayed the same sleek movement, lightning hand speed, and fleet-footed agility that defined her legendary career, neutralizing Pili’s power and controlling every dimension of the bout.

The opening bell sounded to a deafening ovation, with Pili taking a patient stance, waiting on the back foot to counter while Taylor immediately took control of the ring’s center. By the second round, Taylor established her rhythm, snapping accurate jabs before landing a sharp straight right that drew the first collective gasp from the Croke Park crowd.

Pili attempted to establish her own double jab in the third, but Taylor’s lateral movement and subtle feints kept the challenger off balance. After landing a looping right hand over Pili's guard, Taylor engaged in a frantic, firefight exchange in the neutral corner, cementing her early lead through sheer aggression and ring generalship.

Taylor pushed her foot to the gas in the fourth, darting in and out of range to unleash crisp three-punch combinations. Though Pili managed to score with a straight left hand, Taylor’s rapid entry and exit made her an elusive target.

By the fifth and sixth rounds, Taylor’s footwork completely dictated the distance. As Pili pressed forward in frustration, Taylor picked her apart with sharp jabs and back-to-back right straights. Round six became a clinic, as Taylor put together blistering combinations that left Pili struggling to land anything cleanly in return.

Refusing to go quietly, Pili rallied early in the seventh round, shuffling her feet and driving home a sharp four-punch sequence. Undeterred, Taylor immediately answered punch-for-punch in a spectacular mid-ring exchange that brought the 80,000 fans to their feet.

Pili attempted to sustain that momentum on the front foot in round eight, but Taylor reverted to her signature hit-and-move strategy, repeatedly confounding Pili before tagging her with another clean right straight.

Entering the penultimate round, Pili adopted a firm guard, desperate for a fight-ending counter, but Taylor’s hand speed remained too superior. The Irish legend peppered her opponent with jabs and rapid combinations to comfortably secure the frame.

The tenth and final round of Taylor’s professional career was accompanied by an extraordinary wall of sound echoing across Dublin. Even in the closing minute, the 40-year-old showed no signs of fatigue, bouncing on her toes and launching blinding six-punch combinations. She punctuated her iconic career with a trademark shuffle and a final barrage of punches as the final bell tolled.

The judges were unified in their assessment of Taylor's dominance, rewarding her boxing clinic with a wide unanimous decision victory. Diana Drews Milani 98-92, Lisa Giampa – 100-90 and Efrain Lebron – 100-90 all favor of Katie Taylor.

As the official decision was announced, Croke Park erupted into an emotional salute to their greatest sporting ambassador. Taylor leaves the sport as a three-time undisputed champion across two weight divisions, retiring at the apex of women's boxing and sealing her legacy as one of the greatest athletes in combat sports history.
