Ringside Report from the MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada - Alfonso Gomez of California won the WBC Continental Americas Welterweight Championship by technical unanimous decision over Jesus Soto-Karass (24 wins, 3 losses, 16 KOs). The bout was halted in the sixth round in their scheduled 10 rounds of boxing due to accidental headbutt suffered by Gomez above his right eye in round 3, which made his face crimson red.The decision was ruled by the Nevada Athletic Commission that Gomez was unable to continue the fight because of said nasty cut.

Karass was deducted twice for low-blows in the third and in the fourth.
