When asked about his reaction to the verbal challenges thrown by Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. as read in an article on philboxing.com yesterday, Sonsona did not get carried away, merely shrugging it off, staying calm and cool. On the other hand, coach Nonito Donaire Sr. got quite agitated by the verbal jabs.
In one interview, a reporter asked Marvin how he felt about Vasquez’s comments and challenges. 'Marvelous' Marvin responded calmly, "I respect him so much, being the son of a former world champion who trains him personally, but all these talks and verbal challenges can be settled only inside the ring on Saturday Feb. 27 [Sunday, Feb. 28 Manila time]. Let us wait and see who kisses the canvas. One thing for sure is his father cannot help him inside the square ring.”
Sonsona has trained well and Donaire Sr. assures that Sonsona is ready to go for 12 rounds. But with these two big hitters, will it go the full distance? Let’s wait and see.
