CEBU - Fight fans in the municipality of Balamban, Cebu will be treated to a regional title fight next month when Virgilio ?Maton? Silvano of the Omega Gym of Cebu goes for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific light flyweight title against Jetly Purisima on September 7 at the Balamban Sports Complex.
The 23 year old Silvano (16W-2L-1D, 10 KO?s) holds the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight belt and in his last fight in February beat Louie Arlos by unanimous decision in Dalaguete. The 25 year old Purisima (17W-12L-4D, 5 KO?s) is a grizzled road warrior who has fought in Thailand and Indonesia.
This card was initially planned to take place at the Cebu International Convention Center.
Also penned to appear on the card is Marvin Sonsona, the former WBO world superflyweight champion. Fans are hoping he will make an appearance after more than a year long hiatus. He will be facing Jason Egera of Siaton, Negros Oriental. Also scheduled to appear is world ranked flyweight Froilan Saludar, who will face Julios Alcos.
There will be five more bouts on the undercard:Jahleel Payao vs Roel Garcia (8 rounds), Jordan Catubay vs Junny Salogaol (8 rounds), Jaybie Haya vs John Kenan Villaflor (6 rounds), Cristian Amante vs Gary Rojo (4 rounds), and Salatiel ?Pakyaw? Amit vs Jesse Suacasa (4 rounds).
