Former Mexican world champion Julio César Chávez Jr. (57-7-1, 33 KOs) defeated Colombian fighter Jeison Troncoso (14-4, 10 KOs) via first-round knockout this past Saturday, September 12. The light heavyweight bout took place at the Miguel Hidalgo Gymnasium in Puebla; Chávez landed a powerful blow against the ropes that sent Troncoso to the canvas, ending the fight at the 2-minute, 59-second mark and securing his third victory of the year—all achieved in Mexico.
On the same night, Omar Chávez (43-9-1, 30 KOs) also triumphed in Puebla, winning the co-main event by knocking out Colombian Brayan Santander (14-7, 8 KOs) just 35 seconds into the second round.
It was a special night celebrating Mexico's Independence Day, as thousands of fans made their voices heard, chanting "Chávez, Chávez" and "¡Viva México!"
