We received an email from Paul Mata of TV a short while ago informing us that the world light heavyweight title fight between Bernard ?The Executioner? Hopkins and Sergey Kovalev won?t be telecast as previously announced on TV 5.

Mata?s email; reads:

Sports5 Advisory | Hopkins vs Kovalev [CANCELLED BROADCAST]

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the scheduled broadcast tomorrow of Hopkins vs Kovalev has been cancelled.

TV 5?s Mata who originally announced the fight telecast at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday failed to explain what the ?circumstances beyond our control? meant.

However, he told us a short while ago that TV 5 had acquired the TV rights from Solar Sports and that Solar Sports had informed them this morning that because of some issues with the promoter the TV coverage in the Philippines was cancelled forcing TV5 to make quick changes to their program schedule.

It turns out that at around 12:30 TV 5 received a message from Solar Sports that the coverage was a ?go? but they were forced to turn it down since alternate arrangements had already been made.
