WBA Welterweight World Champion & Las Vegas Native Rolly Romero Battles Two-Division Champion Teofimo Lopez Headlining PBC Pay-Per-View Event Available on DAZN and Prime Video Saturday, August 22 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – August 7, 2026 – WBA Welterweight World Champion and Las Vegas-native Rolly Romero held a back to school giveaway on Friday at his alma mater ahead of his world title showdown against two-division champion Teofimo Lopez taking place Saturday, August 22 headlining a PBC Pay-Per-View event available on DAZN and Prime Video from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Romero gave away backpacks, signed photos and a limited number of fight night tickets to the students of John S. Park Elementary School, which he attended as a child. In speaking to media during the event, Romero expressed his gratitude for the great turnout from the students at his alma mater.
“I had a great time today,” said Romero. “A lot more kids showed up than I thought. It really makes me feel good to know that I had an impact on a kid’s life.”

“This means a lot to me. It’s really important to me to give back to exactly where I came from.

“I love giving to people. I give to people all the time. This means so much because this is where I came from. Knowing that I could inspire people here is everything to me.
“Boxing has given me a platform where I can help a lot of people. I love my city. It’s fitting that I’m back defending my title on August 22. I’m a hometown hero.
“We’re gonna have the place packed up on August 22. Any bit of support from the people in Las Vegas means the world to me.”

In the co-main event, undefeated middleweight star Yoenli Hernandez will duel veteran Argentina contender Francisco Daniel Veron in a 10-round attraction, plus Interim WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Victor Santillan squares off against top contender Antonio Russell and sensational prospect Carlos Utria will make his U.S. debut in a 10-round battle against super lightweight contender Israel Mercado opening the pay-per-view at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
