Gonzalez.
World Boxing Council featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez says he'd relish a fight with WBA Champion Nicolas Walters in the New Year.
The WBC reported that Gonzalez who successfully defended his crown with an eleventh round TKO of Jorge "El Travieso" Arce in Los Mochis had wanted to fight WBA featherweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire.
However, undefeated Nicolas ?Axeman? Walters from Montego Bay, Jamaica scored a crushing 6th round TKO over Donaire at the StubHub Center in Carson City to ruin chances of a Gonzalez-Donaire showdown.
The WBC website said that Jhonny who's always a popular guest at the WBC's Zona Rosa Offices, said Walters ?is top of his fight wish list, quite closely followed by a second fight with Abner Mares.?
Asked if a fight against Cristian Mijares could be on the cards, the WBC reported that ?Jhonny momentarily grimaced, but politely and respectfully talked about Mijares? considerable experience and the fact that fighting a talented southpaw is never easy.?
