The World Boxing Council headed by president Mauricio Sulaiman has issued a formal statement condemning the staged fight between Shane Mosley and Ricardo Mayorga at a press conference seeking to build-up interest in their forthcoming fight which hasn?t aroused interest among boxing fans.

The WBC said it ?expresses complete rejection concerning the embarrassing fight simulation? between Mosley and Mayorga a video of which was spread through media and social networks.

The WBC said ?a staged fight previously agreed, is shown? between Mosley and Mayorga and pointed out that these actions ?could have generated more serious and unfortunate consequences.?

The melee broke out apparently after Mayorga slapped the behind of Mosley's girlfriend who asked Shane to kill Mayorga.

The premier world boxing organization insisted that ?these actions are totally unacceptable to our sport? and recalled that the late WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman suffered for many years after being injured during a fight between Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis, ?a brawl that was previously agreed to without awareness that other people were nearby.?

The WBC stated that while it has ?a very special esteem for Mosley and Mayorga due to their glorious achievements in the ring at the same time we firmly regret these actions that only hurt their image and their legacy."
