Z “The Dream” Gorres may still be cleared to fight in the Philippines-Mexico World Cup of boxing at the Arco Arena in Sacramento on August 11.

Respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer said he had spoken to Gorres after the boxer had been to an eye specialist who apparently discovered that the very minor tear in the retina was "not as serious" as initially thought and that after laser treatment the doctor reportedly told Gorres he could fight.

When Aldeguer asked Gorres whether the eye spevialist meant he could fight again or fight in the World Cup, Gorres said he was referring to August 11 when Gorres is scheduled to clash in an IBF world title eliminator against Gerson Guerrero.

However, Aldeguer expressed his concern and wanted to be one hundred percent sure about the specialists statement and whether Gorres was mentally ready after the earlier heartbreak of knowing he would be taken off the fight card.

In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today, international matchmaker Samson Lewkowicz said “I will get the results tomorrow on whether Gorres can fight” adding that “this is a big decision for all of us.”
