Singapore---Jodiel Chloe Banawa bounced back and won again three consecutive games to share on top in the on going 24th ASEAN + Age-Group Chess Championships 2026 Standard Girls Under 6 category here at Our Tampines Hub, Singapore Tuesday , August 11.
The five year old Banawa, Grade 1 pupil of San Juan Elementary School, Alicia, Isabela defeated Natalie Ruixi Koe of Singapore (Round 4) , Aditi Nambiar of India (Round 5l) and Elisha Romarate of the Philippines (Round 6) , respectively.
Banawa shared Kao Ying Qiao of Indonesia in the leadership board with 5.0 points apiece.
Banawa's seventh round opponent is compatriot Rien Euri Villa on Thursday, August 13.
Wednesday, August 12 is a rest day.
Banawa opened her campaign on a bright note beating Le Le Adora Yang of Singapore (Round 1) and Shuhaimi Nurul Firzanah Halim of Malaysia (Round 2) but were beaten by Kao Ying Qiao in the third round.
'Panalo tied for first she beat both leaders one more round after one rest day . 1st or 2nd sana po she will do her best." said proud father International Master Joel Banawa.
