Manny Pacquiao, with time running out for training in preparation for his rematch with legendary Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera, once again failed to leave for Los Angeles to begin working out at the Wild Card Gym of celebrated trainer Freddie Roach.
Roach had earlier told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that if Pacquiao failed to show up at his gym by August 4 he would begin to worry because he believes Barrera will be a much different fighter this time and Pacquiao would face a tough battle.
Pacquiao demolished Barrera in their first meeting in San Antonio in November 2003 forcing the Mexican’s conermen to throw in the towel after Pacquiao battered Barrera for eleven rounds.
Pacquiao's close friend and confidant Rex "Wakee" Salud said he was worried over Pacquiao's failure to leave and was taking the first flight to Manila to convince him he had to leave today and would even join him on the trip if he needed to.
