It has been learned that the government of the state of Guerrero in Mexico is seeking to have the world-renowned city of Acapulco host the World Boxing Council (WBC) Annual Convention again in November 2026 for the 64th edition of this major international event.

Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda prioritizes strengthening and promoting tourism with high-impact international events.

A source has confirmed that recent discussions and a working meeting have taken place regarding a possible immediate proposal.

The 60th WBC Annual Convention was held in Acapulco in 2022.

Acapulco is one of the world's leading tourist destinations, boasting ample hotel capacity, excellent connectivity, and extensive experience hosting sporting events.

Acapulco was surprised by Hurricane Otis, considered the strongest tropical cyclone to have made landfall on the Mexican Pacific coast on October 25, 2023, near Acapulco, and since then they have been struggling to stay in the top spots of world tourism.
