IBF light flyweight challenger Rodel Mayol who suffered a stunning eighth round knockout at the hands of champion Ulises Solis last Saturday in Chicago has been paid contrary to his earlier claims that both he and Bernabe Concepcion who won the NABF title with a smashing fourth round KO of Gabriel Elizondo on the Erik Morales-David Diaz undercard were not paid.

Mayol made the claim in an overseas telephone conversation with a boxing writer on Thursday.

Concepcion?s manager Aljoe Jaro said Mayol received a check and that Michael Koncz who helped arrange his title fight with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum was having it cleared by the bank and preparing a statement of accounts on expenses incurred, tax payments etc prior to being paid what was due him in cash.

Aljoe Jaro said Concepcion was paid $12,500 before they left Los Angeles two days ago and that Mayol was given some money for his expenses before he receives his share of the purse.

Aljoe Jaro said that after payment of 30 percent as tax, 20 percent as Koncz? share, cash advances and training and other expenses, Mayol would receive approximately $10,000 which he said Mayol should be happy with.
