IBF 115-pound champion Jerwin Ancajas weighed 114 3/4 pounds and Mexican challenger Israel Gonzalez weighed 114 pounds.
The weigh-in was held at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas on the day before Jerwin makes the 4th defense of his world championship title.
Jerwin is motivated to make an impressive first impression in his first fight in the US. The motivation brings pressure but Jerwin is in control of the situation and will control the fight.
The trend in Jerwin's title defenses is that his challengers don't make it to the end of the scheduled 12-round championship fights. In his 1st defense in January 2017 in Macau, Jose Alfredo Rodriguez was stopped in the 8th round. In the 2nd defense in Brisbane, Australia in July 2017, Teiru Kinoshita reached the 7th round but did not finish it. In the 3rd defense in Belfast, UK in November 2017, Jamie Conlan was saved from further punishment in the 6th round.
Jerwin's fans hope the trend continues and his world championship title remains the Philippines'.
