LOS ANGELES -- Filipino boxing legend and Philippine senator Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao is back at Freddie Roach's Wildcard Gym in Hollywood Monday afternoon, Dec. 24, after a two-year absence. The historic Wildcard Gym has been Pacquiao's home gym in the United States since when he first fought against Lehlo Ledwaba of South Africa on June 23, 2001 and was a big part of Pacquiao's rise to superstardom since then.
There were questions whether the Filipino eight-division world champion would be back again at Wildcard because he did not hire his long time trainer Freddie Roach during his last fight against Lucas Matthysse of Argentina last July 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Pacquiao, who last fought in the United States against Jessie Vargas on Nov. 5, 2016, is in the final phase of his training camp in preparation for his upcoming fight against American Adrien Broner on Jan. 19, 2019 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to defend his WBA welterweight crown.
