DAVAO CITY -- Former International Boxing Federation (IBF) World light flyweight champion Milan "Method Man" Melindo of Cagayan de Oro City will fight in Japan against undefeated Junto Nakatani on Oct. 5 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

The 31-year old Melindo (37W-4L, 13KO) also former International Boxing Organization (IBO) World light flyweight champion, has suffered back-to back setbacks recently. He lost to Ryoichi Taguchi by a unanimous decision in the IBF World light flyweight and World Boxing Association Super light flyweight title fight last Dec. 31, 2017.

Melindo then was TKO'd by undefeated Ken Shiro in the 7th round in the World Boxing Council World light flyweight title fight held Oct. 7 in Japan.

Nakatani, on the other hand, is undefeated with 19 wins and 14 knockouts.

In his last fight, he knocked out Philip Luis Cuerdo of Paranaque City in the 1st round last June 1, 2019 in Korakuen Hall.

Earlier, Nakatani TKO'd Naoki Mochizuki in the 9th round to win the vacant Japanese flyweight title last Feb. 2. (Lito delos Reyes)
