IBF superfly champion Jerwin Ancajas together with his trainers Joven Jimenez and Fernando Parcon arrived in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon (Thursday morning in Manila). They were met at the Tom Bradley International Airport by MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons.

Ancajas and will stay in Las Vegas while waiting for his next assignment. He was penciled to face his mandatory challenger Jonathan Rodriguez of Mexico last April in Las Vegas but the fight was canceled due to the pandemic.

Ancajas (32-1-2, 22KOs) will be defending the IBF belt he won on Sep. 3, 2016 for the ninth time. One of the longest running world champions around, superstardom has still eluded the Panabo City native as he has yet to face a marquee name in his resume. He needs to face the likes of Juan Francisco Estrada, Roman Gonzalez, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Kazuto Ioka or even against his compatriot Donnie Nietes to stamp his name in the division.
