Philippines rated #2 middleweight Arnel Tinampay has arrived in Melbourne, Australia Monday ahead of his April 14th bout against Joel Camilleri of Australia for the WBC Australasia middleweight title.
Tinampay appeared fit and ready for the rumble and has completed all his medical requirements and is on target to make weight for the official weighin on Thursday.
Tinampay, who hails from Bohol, is in a familiar territory in Australia as he has previously fought down under four times against reigning IBO world champion Dennis Hogan, Sam Ah See, Rocky Jerkic and Jarrod Fletcher. Tinampay has never been knocked out in his 55 professional fights.
Tinampay works out at a hotel in Melbourne.
“I have been training hard for this fight and I am ready to fight Joel Camilleri on April 14," said Tinampay who also thanked manager Brico Santig and Australian Hall of Fame Promoter Peter Maniatis for arranging the fight.
"We know Camilleri is a boxer who likes to counter and we have our game plan ready for the fight," Tinampay, who previously a worked as Manny Pacquiao's sparring partner, said.
The April 14 event that is to take place at Melbourne Arena and streamed live of FiteTV, is promoted by Peter Maniatis and CamaKO. Maniatis also has upcoming cards on April 22 and May 6.
“The winner of Camilleri vs Tinampay WBC title fight will go on to fight for a big regional International title so this fight promises to be top quality and the winner will get his reward,“ said Maniatis.
