The purse bid for the fight between WBC super lightweight world champion Subriel Matías and British challenger Dalton Smith was held in Mexico City on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Matías's promoters, Fresh Productions Boxing, led by Juan Orengo, won the bid with a bid of $1,900,000.
This attractive fight will feature one of the most innovative rules: a 10% winner's bonus.
Matías (20-1, 20 KOs) won the WBC super lightweight title with a majority decision victory over Dominican Alberto Puello. This will be Matías's first defense of his WBC super lightweight title.
Smith (16-0, 12 KOs) is considered one of British boxing's brightest prospects. In his most recent fight, he retained his silver title by defeating Mathieu Germain, thus establishing himself as a contender.
