The NBA announced Saturday that Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George has been suspended for 25 games for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy. George will also forfeit his salary until March 25, as the NBA has not yet specified the substance used.

The 35-year-old George has been receiving treatment for mental health issues and may have used medication containing a banned substance.

George's suspension begins Saturday, January 31, and he will be eligible to return to play on March 25 against the Chicago Bulls, with ten games remaining in the regular season.

George was a member of the U.S. Olympic team at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

He is currently averaging 16 points in 27 games this season. The Sixers are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 26 wins in 47 games.
