Renden Oppas Stops Jarurattanachai in Four to Claim WBC Australasia Minimumweight Gold Title

BALLARAT, VICTORIA — Renden “Take Over” Oppas proved he is a world-class competitor this Saturday night at the Mercure Exhibition Centre in Ballarat, delivering a dominant performance to claim the WBC Australasia Minimumweight Gold Title.

The Filipino standout handed previously undefeated Thai fighter Jirakrit Jarurattanachai the first loss of his career, securing a spectacular fourth-round TKO victory.

The end came when referee Brett McCormick stepped in to wave off the contest during the fourth round. Jarurattanachai had been taking too much punishment to the head from a relentless Oppas, prompting the official to prioritize the Thai fighter's safety and halt the bout.

With the explosive stoppage, Oppas improves his professional record to 6-1. More importantly, capturing the WBC Australasia Gold Title guarantees him a highly coveted WBC World ranking in the minimumweight (strawweight) division, instantly elevating him onto the global stage.

Australian Hall of Fame promoter Peter Maniatis, whose PM Events hosted the card, was full of praise for the newly crowned regional champion.

“Oppas is a very strong, aggressive boxer. He has fought two times in Australia for two wins,” said Maniatis.

Maniatis also highlighted the essential behind-the-scenes support that made the title clash possible, acknowledging Troy Kovacs' invaluable backing of Team Oppas. It was a massive night for the Kovacs family, as Troy’s brother, the undefeated Brad Morgan, also featured prominently on the Ballarat card, stepping into the ring against reigning WBA Oceania champion Mikaele Ravalaca for an eight-round battle.

Following consecutive impressive victories on Australian soil, Renden Oppas has firmly established himself as a dangerous rising force in the 105-pound ranks.
