Promoter and manager Aljoe Jaro vowed that his ward Sonny Boy Jaro ?will win the World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight title in rematch? with champion Edgard Sosa of Mexico.
?Makakabawi tayo sa sunod na laban sa rematch (We will avenge the defeat in the rematch),? Aljoe Jaro said in a text message.
Jaro manager and boxer arrived in the country last Wednesday (October 1) empty handed after boxer Jaro lost to Sosa by 12-round unanimous decision last Sept. 27 in Mexico City.
Three ?neutral? judges assigned by the WBC saw Sosa winner by unanimous decision. Jaro dropped Sosa in the ninth round but could not finish the hometown hero who elected to hit the Filipino challenger and ran.
Manager Jaro did not immediately disclose the details of the ?rematch? but he expressed optimism that the WBC will give his ward another chance owing reportedly to the Filipino challenger's ?excellent? performance.
However, another Filipino Juanito Rubillar, the number one ranked contender, had been promised a crack at Sosa's crown if the Mexican would hurdle Jaro.
