The WBC-Hublot program will honor ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao as a ?Legend of Boxing? next year.
World Boxing Council executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman told the Manila Standard that the initial batch of 12 legends was made up of retired boxers and that Pacquiao will be included in an event to honor the best active fighters next year.
Sulaiman said ?without a doubt Pacquiao is a WBC icon and has been closely associated with the WBC for many years.?
Pacquiao won his first world title when he scored a spectacular 8th round knockout over Thai hero Chatchai Sasakul on December 3, 1998 to win the WBC flyweight championship in a fight card on the outskirts of Bangkok.
He also won the WBC lightweight title with a 9th round battering if David Diaz and captured the WBC super featherweight title with a majority decision over Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez.
