Filipino Jose Maxian has won the WBC World Youth Lightweight Championship with a 7th round knockout of Japanese champion Tsukasa Saito of Japan at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Friday night.

The 21 year old Maxian who belongs to the stable of Gabriel ?Bebot? Elorde Jr, improved his record to 9-2 with 7 knockouts.

Elorde told the Manila Standard that Maxian who is from Capiz is ?really strong and courageous.?

He said the new world youth champion will return home Sunday.

He had previously won the World Professional Boxing Federation Asia Pacific super lightweight title with a 2nd round knockout of Douglas Walo.

The 22 year old Saito won the WBC Youth title with a 2nd round TKO of Thailand?s Rajakru Sor Runwatana last August 21.
