CEBU CITY - Donnie "Ahas" Nietes looked sleek and sharp during his Monday afternoon training session at the ALA Gym. The defending WBO light flyweight champion was a picture of quite confidence when he shadow boxed and hit the mitts with trainer Edmund Villamor.

Nietes (32W-1L-4D, 18KO's) will face Mexico's Moises Fuentes (19-1-1,10KO's) again this May 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena. They fought to a majority draw here in Cebu last year.

Nietes told philboxing that he has been reviewing the film of their first fight and replayed the bout in his mind. He has reviewed his mistakes and also the things that he did correctly and should have been more consistent in doing. He has also been looking at Fuentes' other fights. Nietes has been sparring with heavier stable mates like Ralph Lulu and Melvin Gumban. He has also sparred with Milan Melindo and IBF light flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero of the Omega gym, who will defend his title in Cebu one week before Nietes.

Conditioning coach Nick Curson has also been tapped to work with Nietes.

Two more Philippines vs Mexico matches will be on the card - Melindo will defend his WBO International flyweight title against Martin Tecuapetla and Rey 'BoomBoom" Bautista will be pitted against Sergio Villanueva. In April of last year, Bautista lost a split decision to Jose 'Negro' Ramirez of Mexico in Davao City which led to his brief "retirement".

Unbeaten prospects Mark "Machete' Bernaldez and Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo will fight Non Sithsaithong of Thailand and Hyuk-tak Joo of South Korea respectively.

Reymi Castellano Aleye of Cuba, who is currently Nonito Donaire's sparring partner, will see action against Junmar Dulog of Makati City in an eight rounder. Joseph Von Minoza will fight South Korean Sung-tak Joo (6 rounds) and the event will be opened by the four rounder between JK Elorde and Jeffrey Garcia.
