Milan "El Metodico" Melindo won't be fighting for his hard-earned rematch with Mexican Javier "Cobra" Mendoza after all.

Just yesterday morning, Zanfer Promotions informed ALA Promotions International that their fighter, Javier Mendoza, will be unable to fight Melindo for their scheduled IBF title eliminator due to an injury.

Mendoza's team further advised their fighter strained his back while training. The team has officially pulled out of the fight and has taken Melindo's chances to avenge his loss against the Mexican boxer with them.

The 25-year old Mendoza won over Melindo last year in Ensenada, Mexico for his second title defense. But the victory was controversial, as referee Gerald White had to stop the match because of head clash (called out by the Mexican team), prompting White to go to the scorecards and announcing Mendoza to be the victor. Melindo's team on the other hand, claimed the contact was accidental, and the decision was supposed to be a 6th round TKO for the Filipino.

Although Mendoza has pulled out for this upcoming and one of the most-awaited rematch, Melindo will still be fighting as an undercard with a new opponent in Pinoy Pride 36 "A Legend in the Making" this May 28.
