Respected ESPN boxing writer and columnist Keiran Mulvaney who also reports for Reuters says he personally thinks the Oscar De La Hoya fight ?is not a good match-up? for Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.
Mulvaney told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that De La Hoya ?is so much bigger than him (Pacquiao) and has been fighting at 154 pounds for six or seven years." Mulvaney also pointed out that De La Hoya ?has a long jab and boxes well which does not play to Manny?s strengths.?
However, he said that if the fight is at 147 pounds ?that will hurt Oscar who struggled to make 150 against Steve Forbes? even as Mulvaney recalled that Forbes ?landed some good shots? against De La Hoya which ?must encourage? Pacquiao.
Mulvaney said that if Pacquiao wins he becomes further elevated in all time rankings and ?if he loses it doesn?t diminish his legacy at all.? Mulvaney added he hopes that fighting at 147 won?t affect Pacquiao?s ability to make 135 ?which he has shown is where he belongs.?
