Billy Quinncroft returns to Thunderdome 55 ready for another big step forward
Perth fight fans are in for another big night when Dragon Fire Boxing returns to Metro City Arena on August 28 for the 55th edition of the iconic Thunderdome series.
One of the card’s standout attractions will be local fan favourite “Big Bosh” Billy Quinncroft (4-1), who returns to action against experienced Thai campaigner Theepakorn Pankasem (6-7).
For Quinncroft, the matchup is exactly the kind of challenge he was looking for.
“It’s a good test”
“He’s got a fair bit more experience than me, so it’s a good test and that’s what I wanted. Nice fight to get me moving again after my last one in March. It should be a great scrap and I’m looking forward to it.”
After his last outing in March, Quinncroft has used the time away from competition to put in serious work inside the gym — including a significant push to get his weight down.
“I’ve been testing myself the whole camp”
“Training’s been great. Dropped a fair bit of weight for this one, so it’s been a mix of managing the diet and upping the workload. Plenty of tough sparring too. I’ve been testing myself the whole camp and I’m happy with where I’ve landed!”
The hard work is paying dividends, with Quinncroft also enjoying the recognition that comes with breaking into the rankings.
Quinncroft has come a long way in a relatively short period.
“It’s great to be ranked and I’m proud of it. Two years ago I was just starting out, so to be in the Top 15 already means a lot.”
But the local favourite isn't getting carried away.
“For me it’s about the journey and enjoying it. Anything I do, I’ll push myself as far and as hard as I can, and being ranked gives me that bit more motivation to keep going and see where it takes me.”
Now Quinncroft wants to turn that motivation into another statement performance on August 28.
“Don’t blink!”
The message to the fans is short, sharp and unmistakably Bosh.
“I’ve said all along I’m coming back with a bang. Don’t blink, you all will miss it.”
“Bosh!!!”
With a 4-1 record, a Top 15 ranking and an experienced opponent standing across the ring, Billy Quinncroft has another opportunity to show why he is becoming one of Western Australia’s fighters to watch.
August 28. Metro City Arena. Thunderdome 55.
Big Bosh is back — and he’s promising a bang.
This is one fight night you’re not going to want to miss.
