When fight figures cross into nine-digit guarantees, the conversation usually turns cynica…

The Philippines Jun Alivio who is unranked even by the Pan Asian Boxing Association has lost a lopsided eleven round decision in a PABA super bantamweight title fight to WBA No. 1 ranked Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym of Thailand in Pathum Thani which is about 45 kilometers from Bangkok.

All three judges scored the fight for the Thai champion by margins of 110-100, 110-100.5 and 109-101.

The 27 year old Poonsawat who is the former WBA bantamweight interim champion was making the 10th successful defense of the title he won from Filipino Jonathan Ba-at on September 8, 2006.

With the win Poonsawat improved to 36-1 with 25 knockouts while Alivio dropped to 9-7-1, with 4 knockouts according to boxrec.com.

In his last fight Poonsawat scored a 3rd round knockout over tough Indonesian challenger Jason Butar Butar on June 24 while the 23 year old Alivio won by a 2nd round TKO over Richard Agagad.

The match once again raised the issue of how a Filipino who was unranked by PABA could fight the champion who is also the WBA World No.1.
