When fight figures cross into nine-digit guarantees, the conversation usually turns cynica…

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum isn?t talking and his prized possession, pound-for-pound king and ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao says he believes that talks are on-going for a possible Floyd Mayweather Jr megabuck fight in November but that he would never agree to anything other than a 50-50 revenue split.

Earlier reports indicated that Mayweather believes he is the bigger draw in terms of pay-per-view numbers and was pushing for a 60-40 split in his favor.

Despite all the speculation and the supposed quiet conversations going on between Arum and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer and Oscar De La Hoya? ill-timed announcement that both fighters were close to a deal which he subsequently denied claiming he was misquoted, it seems there?s been no progress.

One of the journalists believed to be close to the Mayweathers as well as Floyd Jr?s handler Leonard Ellerbee is David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press in Michigan.

Mayo told insidesports. ph ?I have no reason to believe they are close at all? amidst indications that De La Hoya would be one of the last to know since he is not in on any talks if indeed talks are going on.

Mayo also said he also doesn?t believe the Mayweather camp which he reminds us should not be confused with Golden Boy Promotions ?which isn?t part of it, is entertaining talks at all.?

While the Grand Rapids Press sportswriter conceded that he could be wrong of course but added ?my belief is that of all the people Mayweather doesn?t want to hear talking about what he should do or how close the fight is, or how far apart it is, the two people atop that list are Bon Arum and Oscar De La Hoya? whom Mayo described as Mayweather?s ?two archenemies in the sport.?

Mayo concluded, ?the more they yap, the more he?ll balk.?
