Western Australia’s undefeated State Heavyweight Champion returns to Thunderdome 55

Perth’s heavyweight scene is set for another explosive night when Dragon Fire Boxing returns to Metro City Arena on August 28 for the 55th edition of the iconic Thunderdome series.

One of the standout attractions on the stacked card will be undefeated Western Australian State Heavyweight Champion Michael “Big Bad” Bazley (3-0), who is set to face his first international opponent, China’s Shenx Xu.

Bazley has wasted no time building momentum since turning professional. After announcing himself with a vicious knockout on debut, the hard-hitting heavyweight has remained active and says he has been chasing that feeling ever since.

“I’M ALWAYS READY”

Bazley has taken a close look at his upcoming opponent and knows he faces an interesting challenge.

“He looks well built and like he’s put the work in. He’s a southpaw and nine years younger than me, so that definitely makes things interesting. I’ll find out on the night if he’s all steak and no sizzle, or if he brings what he looks like he brings. Either way, I’m ready.”

That readiness has become a defining part of Bazley’s approach.

“Since my debut and that vicious knockout, I’ve stayed active, and I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since. I’m not one of those fighters who needs months to get ready. I’m always ready.”

For Bazley, the work doesn't stop when the lights go out after fight night.

“I’m always in the gym, always improving, and when talent meets hard work, that’s when you’ve got a dangerous combination.”

BAZLEY SENDS A WARNING

Bazley isn't expecting his opponent to make things easy. In fact, he believes an aggressive approach could play directly into his hands.

“To my opponent, I see you. But if the plan is to come in, rush me and make it rough, you’re already behind the eight ball. That’s exactly what everyone else has tried to do, and they’ve all met the same result.”

With a perfect 3-0 professional record and the Western Australian State Heavyweight Championship already around his waist, Bazley now has another opportunity to prove he belongs among the region’s most dangerous heavyweights.

But for Bazley, this fight represents more than simply adding another victory to his record.

“You all know the reason why I started this journey, and we accomplished that. Now, this is for all of you.”
