Fil-Aussie fighter Heath ?The Heat? Ellis whose mother is a Filipina has won the Australian and Victoria State middlweight title with a unanimous eight round decision over Benny ?Rocky? Horra at the Town Hall in Malvern, Victoria.
TV KO Boxing show host and multi-awarded promoter Peter Maniatis said Ellis ?had a tough fight? with both fighters deducted two points each by referee Ignatius Missailidis. Ellis was sanctioned for holding and Horra for hitting Ellis at the back of the head.
Maniatis said the 22 year old Ellis ?had too much class for Horra and won a rugged fight quite comfortably.?
All three judges scored the fight for Ellis. Bryan Membrey scored it 75-74, Aneeka Williams 77-71 and Andrew Campbell 75-73.
Ellis was coming off a stunning 4th round KO at the gands of Steve Maxwell in an IBF Pan Pacific and WBC Asian Boxing Council welterweight title fight last April 9.
The 38 year old lost g is fourth fight in a row. He was coming off a six round unanimous decision loss to Yao Yi Ma last October 24.
