Filipino southpaw Jason ?Baby Face? Egera has won the vacant World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific bantamweight title with a smashing seventh round TKO over Thailand ?s Pichitchok Singmanassak.
The fight was the main event on a card that was held in the Omnoi Municipality Gymnasium in Samut Sakorn which is some 30 kilometers from the Thai capital, Bangkok .
Egera hammered Pichitchok with vicious body shots that dropped the Thai no less than four times in the abbreviated bout.
The hard-hitting Filipino sent the Thai fighter to the canvas twice in the fourth round, then decked him again with a hard body shot in the sixth and after he sent Pichitchok crashing one more time in the seventh the referee stepped in to halt at bout at 1:37 of round seven.
Well-known boxing writer and photographer Scott Mallon said the Thai fighter wasn't very good but that "shouldn't take away from Egera's win." He said both fighters came to win and "both beat on each other but both were limited. At least it was evenly matched."
Egera who was coming off a ten round unanimous decision over rugged Noel Sungahid last February 17 improved his record to 10-2 with 5 knockouts while Pichitchok dropped to 14-7 with 6 knockouts.
