Filipino chess wizard Noah Lucas L. Palcis, placed 13th place in the recently concluded 21st Malaysian Chess Festival, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 27-31, 2026.
The 8-year-old, Grade 3 student at Belen Homesite Elementary School (BHES) finished the tournament 6-Rounds Swiss competition with 4.0 points on account of four wins and two losses in the Under-8 event dubbed as Dato Tan Chin Nam Age-Group Chess Championship 2026.
He defeated Badlishah Irsyad Badrulhisam of Malaysia in the first round. However, the chess prodigy from Angeles City, Pampanga was beaten by Kairav Kumar Lakshen of Malaysia in the second round and Lin He Lucas Cheng of Singapore in the third round.
However, Noah Lucas came back winning the last three games against countryman Jiro Gabriel Roque, Muhd Darwish Hakimi And Azim of Malaysia and Zhong Joe Chee.
In the team event, Noah Lucas contributed 5.5 points in nine outings to power GM J Young Blood.
His participation was supported by Mayor Carmelo "Jon" Lazatin III, Coach Jose Fernando "Fer" Camaya, BHES family, family and friends.
He is set to compete in the Search for future Chess Master Challenge to be held on September 19, 2026 at Robinsons Angeles in Angeles City, Pampanga.
