Michael ?Bruce Lee? Domingo of the ALA Gym is being pulled out of the planned Dubai fight card this October. ALA Promotions has received an offer for Domingo to fight for the number one bantamweight ranking in the IBF. ALA Promotions patriarch Antonio L. Aldeguer told this writer that Domingo will face a ranked contender from South Africa most probably in Johannesburg with Vusi Malinga of East London, South Africa as his likely opponent.
Domingo (40W-14L-2D, 18 KO's) is ranked number 7 by the IBF while Malinga (19W-3L-1D, 12 KO's) is number 9. The IBF website shows that the top two contender positions are vacant as of July 2010. The reigning champion is Yonnhy Perez of Colombia.
Domingo had a breakthrough performance in his first stint as a main event fighter last May 23 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City when he stopped Luis Melendez of Colombia with a vicious body shot in the second round. Domingo is also ranked number ten by Ring magazine among the world's top bantamweights.
